Volcanoes, Volcanoes, Everywhere...

On Tuesday, each fourth-grade student made a volcano in Social Studies class. This was a culminating activity about our Earth and how the land shapes how we live and adapt to our environment. As you can see from the pictures below, it was a blast. Many thanks to all the parent volunteers who helped us with this "hands-on" activity.

This week....

Greetings-
In Math, we begin Topic 2- Generate and Analyze Data.  This is a short topic with only six lessons. We will complete it next week, with a test at the end of the week. Please continue to review division facts with your child as we will continue with timed tests. In Religion, we completed Chapter One- Jesus-The Way, The Truth, The Light, there will be a test for this chapter on Wednesday 10/18. This past week we also learned more about Our Lady of Fatima and how to pray the Rosary. In English Language Arts(ELA) we completed Unit 2 and there will be a Vocabulary and Spelling test on Friday,10/20. We continue to learn more about synonyms and antonyms as well as context clues and shades of meaning. In Writing, the students are learning the John Collins approach as they write and edit their own informative paragraph. In Reading, we will begin the novel Sarah, Plain and Tall by Patricia MacLachlan.  Learning through Literature Circles can be a ton of fun.
Looking forward to another great week.
Best,
Nancy Carroll
